DTF Pressing Instructions

Follow these DTF pressing instructions to achieve vibrant colors, strong adhesion, and long-lasting results on every garment. Proper heat, pressure, and timing are essential for professional-quality DTF transfers.

Recommended Heat Press Settings

For best results, use a heat press with accurate temperature control.

  • Temperature: 310°F / 155°C

  • Time: 12–15 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium to firm

  • Peel: Hot or cold (after ~5 seconds)

  • Final Press: Required

Always test one transfer before full production.

Step-by-Step DTF Pressing Process

Step 1: Prepare the Garment

  • Use a clean, dry garment

  • Pre-press for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles

  • Make sure the surface is flat and lint-free

Step 2: Position the Transfer

  • Place the DTF transfer ink-side down

  • Align the design exactly where you want it

  • Cover with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet

Step 3: Heat Press the Transfer

  • Press at 310°F / 155°C

  • Apply medium pressure

  • Hold for 12–15 seconds

  • Open the press smoothly

Step 4: Peel the Film

  • Allow the transfer to cool for about 5 seconds

  • Peel hot or cold, depending on preference

  • Peel slowly and evenly

If edges lift, press again for a few seconds.

Step 5: Final Press (Very Important)

  • Cover the design with parchment or Teflon

  • Press again for 5–8 seconds

  • This locks in the ink and improves durability

Final pressing improves:

  • Wash resistance

  • Soft feel

  • Long-term adhesion

Fabric Compatibility

DTF transfers work well on:

  • Cotton

  • Polyester

  • Cotton/Poly blends

  • Light and dark garments

For specialty fabrics, always test before full production.

Washing & Care Instructions

To extend the life of your DTF transfers:

  • Wait 24 hours before washing

  • Wash garments inside out

  • Use cold or warm water

  • Avoid bleach and harsh detergents

  • Tumble dry low or hang dry

  • Do not iron directly on the design

Proper care ensures long-lasting prints.

Common Pressing Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Low temperature

  • ❌ Insufficient pressure

  • ❌ Skipping the final press

  • ❌ Pressing on uneven surfaces

  • ❌ Washing too soon after pressing

Correct settings = consistent results.
